  • Margaret's Survival Story - Jul 17th 2008

    SHE was one of Chester Zoo’s miracles when she was born but little giraffe Margaret has proved to be just that for a second time. Margaret was not only the first female Rothschild Giraffe born at the zoo but also considered to be the smallest giraffe ever born.

  • Chimpanzee research published - Jun 20th 2008

    A KISS and a cuddle is often considered to be the best way to make up after a squabble. And it seems that is the case for Chester Zoo’s chimpanzees as much as it is for humans. A study of the chimpanzee group at the zoo showed that after disagreements or after times of conflict, the chimpanzees 'soothed' each other with affectionate gestures.

  • Marc Ecko opens Asian Plains exhibit - May 30th 2008

    On Friday 30th May, Marc Ecko, Founder and Chief Creative Officer, Marc Ecko Enterprises, made a special visit to Chester Zoo, to visit the Asian Plains exhibit and to learn more about the progress of the zoo’s conservation projects around the world.

  • Chester Zoo and Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park - Apr 29th 2008

    TEAM from Chester is to carry out its own DIY SOS project in the name of conservation. The 110-acre, award-winning zoo - the largest in the UK - is offering a helping hand to one of its smaller counterparts north of the border. From Monday April 28, a team of keeping and maintenance staff, under the watchful eye of Chester’s Director of Conservation and Education, Mark Pilgrim, will start work at Galloway Wildlife Conservation Park, Galloway.
