Keeper for a Day

See the Zoo from a new perspective.  Ever watched a Zoo Keeper in action and wished you could join in to learn and lend a hand?  Here's your chance!

As a Keeper for the Day at the UK's most popular wildlife attraction you can really roll your sleeves up and get stuck into real Zoo life.  See what goes on behind the scenes, and get involved in the daily work of a keeper, from food preparation, feeding and cleaning out to anything that might happen.  An unforgettable mixture of hard work and fun!

From Carnivores to Camels

How do you like the sound of working with Bats and Cats, feeding Flamingos or caring for Carnivores?

This exciting day will involve working alongside the Zoo's qualified, highly experienced and enthusiastic zoo professionals.  Keeper for a Day gives you the opportunity to work with the animals of your choice, including some of the most endangered species in the world.  

Your special day will start at 8.00am and finish at 5.00pm.  It will be on a Wednesday and your specific date will be arranged by phone.  Tea breaks and lunch are included and you will receive a signed certificate and a surprise gift as a permanent memento of your day.

You may bring one extra guest at no charge, although the guest will not be working alongside you and can only enter the Zoo after 10.00am.  All funds raised through the scheme support Chester Zoo's extensive work on conservation programmes both in the Zoo and overseas.  The Zoo currently supports projects in over 100 countries.

You must be 18 years or older and are fully insured for the day, there will be a safety briefing upon arrival.

We will try to assign you to the animals of your choice, but this is not always possible (please note this scheme is not available for the aquarium).
