There have been multiple scams circulating the internet recently that are fraudulently impersonating Chester Zoo to promote a fake ticketing offer.

For your peace of mind, we’ve listed our trusted third party ticket providers here so you can be confident in purchasing authentic tickets when visiting Chester Zoo.

We work with several ticketing agents, coach tour operators, and partners who sell zoo tickets, memberships and experiences on our behalf. However, none of these partners will be offering huge discounts and flash sales that discount more than half price from our standard ticket prices sold through Chester Zoo. You can always view our standard prices or purchase authentic Chester Zoo tickets through our website. If we are offering a large discount or one-time offer such as Kids Go Free, we will post that offer on our website so you know it’s legitimate.

Below you will find our main online ticket partner agents. This is not an exhaustive list, as we do work with other smaller third party ticket providers and travel partners. If you are unsure of a Chester Zoo ticket offer or third-party website, please get in touch with our Travel Trade & Tourism Team who are always happy to help!

How to spot Chester Zoo ticket scams

Unfortunately, despite being a charity dedicated to saving wildlife and protecting nature, we are regularly targeted by scammers who try to take advantage of our amazing community and their love for Chester Zoo.

We do everything we can to report these scams to social media platforms, website hosting providers and the Metropolitan Police’s Cyber Crime Unit. However, shutting down this fraudulent activity can often take a long time. Please be vigilant at all times, and follow the tips below to spot scammers who are impersonating Chester Zoo:

  • Scams can take multiple forms including fake ticket offers, fake competitions, or people impersonating our official social media accounts and website.
  • Posts impersonating us will often contain spelling and grammatical errors, or include language which we don’t normally use.
  • Fake ticket offers will often be for extremely low prices, for example 4 tickets for £2. While we try to keep our ticket prices as low as possible, and do run offers from time to time, we are unable to sell tickets with such a major discount. Chester Zoo is not for profit, and every penny we make goes into our work to save wildlife here at the zoo and around the world.
  • Some of these fraudulent ticket offers or competitions on social media may include comments left by fake profiles to make them appear genuine.
  • Fake pages will often use outdated images, low quality photographs, or images from other zoos. They may also edit zoo images by adding text to them, in fonts we don’t normally use.
  • We have seen evidence of social media ads being used to promote scams. Please be mindful that just because an offer appears on a paid-for advert, it does not mean it’s genuine.
  • Scammers may try to recreate our social media pages. If you are unsure, click on the social media profile to verify it’s one of our official channels, which can be found here: Facebook, X (Twitter), Instagram, TikTok, LinkedIn, YouTube.
  • When we run social media competitions, scammers will sometimes reply to your comments. They will be impersonating Chester Zoo and falsely telling people they have won the competition. This will usually include a link to a website asking for your personal or financial details.
  • Check the web address of websites selling tickets. Scam websites will often have completely unrelated web addresses, as these websites are reused for different scams depending on which company is being impersonated at the time.
  • Look out for warnings on our official social media channels and website. If we’ve been made aware of a scam going around, we will do our best to tell our supporters about it.
  • If you are even slightly unsure of a third party ticket offer, it’s better to be safe than sorry. Please get in touch with our team, who will happily verify if an offer is genuine.
  • If you do fall victim to one of these scams, please contact your bank as soon as possible and they will be able to advise you of the next steps to take.
