At the zoo

Length of workshop 50 minutes

In this storytelling experience, the meerkats would like to invite the mole-rats for dinner, but what food do they like?

Join us for a wonderful walking tour through our new Heart of Africa zone as we use storytelling to engage students and introduce them to these and other fascinating species.
What do mole-rats eat? Why does a vulture need a hooked beak to eat? How can we tell what an animal eats just by looking at their amazing adaptations? All these questions will be answered as your students look for clues to learn about our animals’ diet.
This workshop will take place in the Heart of Africa zone and the tour will provide your group with an opportunity to explore this new area of Chester Zoo. We’d therefore recommend avoiding Heart of Africa prior to your tour in order to maximise your time in the Zoo.
The tour is subject to change due to animal availability or extreme weather. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for a walking tour.
