At the zoo

This workshop is the perfect accompaniment to ‘Beasts’, our immersive digital 360° experience, written by Jess French and inspired by her book ‘Beastlands’.
Available at Chester Zoo until Friday 20 December 2024!
Together we’ll discover the features and adaptions of Beasts from the Island of Ramoa, and look at comparisons to island-living species here at the zoo, such as the Komodo dragon, Bornean orangutan and Sumatran tiger. Learn about their adaptations and the threats they face in the wild.
Students will have the chance to demonstrate and apply their knowledge in creating their own beast to suit a habitat from Ramoa.
Please note: that this is a LIMITED TIME workshop which only available for the duration of our immersive experience, Beasts, which ends on Sunday 3 November.
A visit to see our brand new BEASTS experience will conclude the workshop.

Living things and their habitats
- Identify that most living things live in habitats to which they are suited and describe how different habitats provide for the basic needs of different kinds of animals and plants, and how they depend on each other.
- Recognise that environments can change and that this can sometimes pose dangers to living things.
Evolution and inheritance
- Identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution.
