I joined Chester Zoo as the Conservation Training Academy Manager in 2019 after nearly 12 years working as a lecturer and manager in Further and Higher Education.
My passion for conservation education comes from my background in Countryside Management and my degree BSc (Hons) Animal Conservation and Biodiversity. Prior to teaching I was employed and volunteered in a range of conservation roles and projects such as Entry Level Stewardship management, native species monitoring and biological recording.
I’m specialised in teaching and training in the lifelong learning sector and completed my Qualified Teacher Learning and Skills (QTLS) accreditation to become a registered member of the Society for Education and Training in 2010. Alongside this, I’m a trained apprenticeship assessor with experience in internal verification, quality monitoring and external examining for degree validations.
As the Conservation Training Academy Manager my role is to manage and develop a range of professional and higher education courses to support the goal of “Preventing Extinction”.
“The great aim of education is not knowledge but action.”
