Why the long neck? In this zoo-based walking tour workshop, we’ll follow in Darwin’s footsteps by using real animal examples to show how evolution works. We’ll study adaptions and habitats, inheritance and natural selection, in a fun and engaging way.
Age group: Key Stage 2
Duration: 50 minutes
Capacity: 20 students
Cost: £50
*This workshop will take place outdoors, in the area surrounding the Tropical Realm and giraffe habitat, but is subject to change due to animal availability or extreme weather. Please ensure students are dressed appropriately for a walking tour.

Science:
Evolution & Inheritance
- recognise that living things have changed over time and that fossils provide information about living things that inhabited the Earth millions of years ago
- recognise that living things produce offspring of the same kind, but normally offspring vary and are not identical to their parents
- identify how animals and plants are adapted to suit their environment in different ways and that adaptation may lead to evolution.
