This activity is designed to introduce young learners to the concept of describing animal behaviour.

It encourages students to observe animals closely, whether at the zoo or in their classroom, and identify different actions such as eating, drinking, or moving. Through this activity, children are introduced to verbs that describe behaviours, helping them develop both their scientific observation skills and their English language understanding.

It highlights the importance of watching animals to learn about their wellbeing and preferences, making it an engaging way to explore animal care and health. Ask students to consider why animals behave in certain ways and what these behaviours tell us about their environment and needs. This activity helps foster a love for nature and develops key skills in scientific observation and communication.

Learning Outcomes:

  • Develop an understanding of animal behaviour and the reasons behind it.

  • Practise using action words (verbs) to describe animal behaviours.

  • Engage in observation-based learning, either in the classroom or at a zoo.
