HESTER MUNDIS, a four-time Emmy nominee, has for many years used her humour and journalism to heighten public awareness of animal rights. She is the author of numerous works of fiction and non-fiction, including the autobiographical No, He’s Not a Monkey, He’s an Ape and He’s My Son– her true account of having raised infant chimp Boris for 2½ years in a Manhattan apartment before finding him a forever home at Chester Zoo.

Over the past half century Boris has become an iconic Chester Zoo celebrity.  Immortalised last year with a bronze statue on site, he is currently featured in several television documentaries (Raised Human: Boris, My Chimp & Me, The Secret Life of the Zoo: Seasons 1 and 2) and has a growing global fan club on the internet.

Known in the U.K. as Boris’ “mum,” Hester is also the mother of two non-simian sons and has recently become a proud grandma.  She lives in New York’s Hudson Valley with her husband, radio personality Ron VanWarmer.

Tickets may be available on the door but advanced booking helps keep costs down and guarantees a seat! Doors open at 7.00pm for a 7.30pm start at Chester Zoo’s Russell Allen Lecture Hall, off the A41, just before the Park & Ride (use postcode CH2 1EU for SatNav). Tickets cost £9 for FFI Members, £10 for non-Members, with a concession of £5 for students. All prices include a buffet and wine.
