Chester Zoo to host 2025 EAZA Conservation Education Conference
We’re excited to announce the European Association of Zoos and Aquaria (EAZA) Conservation Education Conference is being hosted at Chester Zoo in March 2025.
This prestigious event, themed “Zoo Educators Creating Global Conservation Impact”, will gather conservation education thought leaders and practitioners from across the globe and promises to be a key platform for sharing cutting-edge practices and transformative ideas. Across three days, delegates will experience:
- Keynote plenaries: Renowned thought leaders will offer thought provoking perspectives on the conference’s key themes, which include youth voice in conservation, engagement with COPs and global conservation priorities, connecting people with nature, supporting human wellbeing and the role of educators as leaders.
- Talks: Educators from across the world will share best practices, new ideas and research findings from their programmes.
- Masterclasses: Participants will have the opportunity to develop practical skills and strategies they can take back to their own organisations.
- Discussions: Panels of experts and delegates will contribute to new thinking around key conservation education issues.
- Networking opportunities: Connect with fellow educators, researchers, practitioners, and advocates, share practice and build collaboration across the sector.
A highlight of the conference will be Chester Zoo’s school and community takeover, where delegates will get to experience Chester Zoo’s education programmes first hand and meet people who have taken part in these programmes, as they share their thoughts on biodiversity conservation, climate change and more.
For the first time the conference will also offer online access to engage delegates from further afield or who face barriers to travel, with live-streamed sessions, interactive Q&As, digital networking opportunities and even a live ‘tour’ of Chester Zoo.
We’re looking forward to welcoming some of the world’s leading conservation educators, academics and thought leaders to our conservation zoo, as well as hearing how conservation education practice is developing across Europe. This event will really celebrate the power of education in driving real conservation impact and inspiring the next generation.
