Action against climate change
Climate change is occurring at an unprecedented rate. Nature needs us now - before it's too late. Please donate to our Action Against Climate Change appeal today.
Climate change – the increase in the Earth’s temperature and the effect this has on global climate conditions – is the biggest threat to nature. Unless we take urgent and far reaching action now, there will be catastrophic consequences for people and wildlife, such as droughts, floods, wildfires, displacement of billions of people and mass extinction of animals and plants.
Global temperature has already risen 1.1ºC above pre-industrial levels, due to human activities that release greenhouse gas emissions, with devastating effects on global biodiversity and communities. We’re at a critical junction where what we do next will change the course of the future of our planet.
As a global conservation charity, Chester Zoo acts as a voice for change by calling for urgent action on climate change, to safeguard the liveable future for people and nature - our mission to ensure nature survives and thrives depends on it. Climate change directly impacts all of the precious species in our care - we must act now to ensure species are protecting from the threats caused by our changing climate.

How we're helping to counter the impacts of climate change...
Your support will help us to work with partners world wide worldwide to limit the impacts of a rapidly changing climate on nature - and to ensure that we're all playing a role in stopping climate change.
In South East Asia...
... the unsustainable production of palm oil and other commodities is causing massive habitat destruction. We're working to protect rainforest habitats by championing sustainable palm oil and lobbying the government for a sustainable trade policy. It's a key aspect of our work in conserving biodiversity worldwide, to reduce deforestation and to protect vulnerable species.
In Madagascar...
... we’re working with partners to safeguard the extraordinary biodiversity found in the Mangabe region through sustainable forest management and by helping communities to safeguard rare littoral forests.
In the United Kingdom...
... we're undertaking mass tree-planting across our own estate to lock up carbon and help restore precious habitats so that UK wildlife can thrive.
