Having first started as a volunteer keeper at the zoo in 1997 I have been fortunate enough to work as a keeper with a variety of species at the zoo, starting on the Giraffe team before moving on to the Primate team. My job later changed to a project liaison role, working closely with our Capital Development team and Animal Division on numerous enclosure designs. This included working on Elephants of the Asian ForestRealm of the Red Ape and more recently Islands.

My current role as Assistant Curator of Mammals covers a variety of topics and roles, including assisting in improving animal management and husbandry methods, enclosure design and animal welfare audits in the zoo, all of which involves working with a number of zoo departments. I am also involved in a number of EEP species committees and I am the Studbook co-ordinator for the Eastern Bongo. I have also been fortunate enough to work with some of our conservation partners, including working alongside HUTAN on the bridge building project in Borneo, and closer to home working with the Vincent Wildlife Trust with the Pine Marten Recovery Project in mid-Wales.
